Meet Neil
Neil Laird is an Emmy nominated documentary filmmaker, author and public speaker whose work has taken him to more than seventy countries.
Over a career spanning three decades, Neil has produced documentaries for major broadcasters including the BBC, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and PBS. His work explores archaeology, ancient civilisations and the stories that shape how we understand the past.
As a gay filmmaker and storyteller, Neil has developed a particular passion for uncovering the hidden queer histories of the ancient world, from Pompeii and Ancient Rome to Egypt and Troy. His books, talks and podcasts invite audiences to see familiar places through an entirely new lens.
What if some of history's most fascinating queer stories have been hiding in plain sight?
Rather than retelling familiar history, we're exploring the people, relationships and archaeological discoveries that reveal a richer and more complex picture of the ancient world.
